WELCOME to reach and rally UK
WELCOME
My name is Barney Maddock, and this is the story of Reach and Rally UK. I've been obsessed with tennis from an early age and have been lucky enough to compete in many prestigious tournaments and receive world-class training at the Johan Kriek Coaching Academy. This experience has taught me first-hand how effective tennis-based activity can be across all age groups, and I've developed a passion to share the game’s immense physical and mental benefits.
Although I've had the privilege of coaching players across the entire age spectrum, the true inspiration for Reach and Rally came from much closer to home: my visits to my grandmother, a former keen player and now a resident in a care home. In an environment with physical limitations, I saw a clear opportunity to bring the joy, activity, and rehabilitative power of tennis-related exercises indoors to those with limited mobility. The challenge was then clear: how do we safely and effectively adapt a dynamic sport to deliver tangible physical and mental well-being benefits for the elderly?
The Science Behind the Sport
To answer this, I partnered with Dr. Timothy Pike, a specialist in rehabilitation medicine and a former healthcare assistant. Together, we meticulously developed the Reach and Rally Programme. This is not simply a fun activity; it is a medically informed, evidence-based programme that uses tennis-related movements for gentle stretching, coordination, and strength retention.
Dr. Pike's clinical input ensures every session is safe, beneficial, and meets the highest standards in elderly care. We believe exercise must be effective, but equally, it must be fun.
That is why every member of our coaching team is fully trained to deliver sessions with energy and compassion, living up to our motto: 'Bringing the Game to Later Life.'
If you are ready to see the impact of our professional, clinically-backed programme, please contact us today to arrange a complimentary demonstration in your care home.
